PROVIDING MAXIMUM COMFORT
Diving is about the freedom to float weightlessly and glide through the water amidst animals, geological formations and historical artifacts. An essential element to enjoying the experience is to be comfortable. The first element to ensure comfort is a psychological one that divers gain through training and experience. The second element of comfort is a physiological one, to properly insulate the diver's body so that he or she is as warm as possible. Although a wet suit is sufficient for local diving in mid to late summer, otherwise it is not as comfortable a diving experience as diving dry. Dive Professionals aim to foster a love for diving and, in our opinion; it is absolutely critical that divers are as comfortable as possible. Even a slight discomfort may be enough to discourage people from diving as regularly. Those who learn to dive dry realize that water temperature is no longer a significant factor in diving and it is possible to emerge literally steaming inside a drysuit after an ice dive (as an extreme example!). By encouraging students to dive dry, we are able to enjoyably prolong the dive season by many months. Drysuits cost more than wetsuits and require a little specialized instruction. For this reason, most dive stores do not rent drysuits or have few available. Drysuits are left as a specialty option for advanced divers. Dry suits are not very complicated to use with appropriate training and even a completely new diver can start diving dry from the first dive. Although drysuits add an additional expense, we believe being toasty warm both in and out of the water, longer dives and a longer dive season make the additional cost worthwhile.
