OWN YOUR EQUIPMENT Our main priority is to make people into regular divers who are
enthusiastic, inspired and passionate about the sport. We believe that owning your own equipment is an important step towards this goal.
Commitment
Purchasing equipment is a commitment to use it regularly and having your own equipment around will serve as a reminder and motivation
to keep diving.
Financial Savings
Although the initial investment in gear may be considerable, the cost per dive drops significantly which makes budget considerations
less of an issue when deciding to dive regularly. With your own equipment, the cost savings versus rental of the equipment increases
with each use and the cost per dive decreases rapidly.
Convenience
There is an enormous convenience factor to having your own equipment. You don't need to worry about availability, about getting the
right size, about service history or about the logistics to make an equipment reservation, pick it up beforehand and drop it off
afterwards. Your own equipment will be organized and ready to go making going diving fast and easy.
Familiarity & Safety
With your own equipment you will quickly become very familiar with how it works. Familiarity reduces your stress level both before a
dive and more significantly in the event of any issues you may need to deal with below the water.
Comfort, Fit
Every piece of diving equipment, other than a regulator, must be chosen for optimal size. There are both comfort and safety issues with
equipment that is either too loose or too tight. Even equipment that is the right size must be adjusted for optimal fit whether it is
the tightening or loosening of buckles, or the cutting of drysuit latex seals to the owner's wrist and neck. Such precise
customization is not possible with rental equipment or can be time consuming.
Accessories
There are numerous small pieces of equipment that can make diving much easier, more enjoyable and safer. Whether it is fine tuning how
weight is distributed, how equipment is attached to you or permanently attaching accessories to your gear for easy access there are
countless small enhancements that make gearing up faster and diving safer. It is impossible to make these adjustments on equipment
that changes often.
Top Quality
Dive stores typically cannot afford to rent top of the line equipment. The customizations needed for optimal performance and the risk
of improper usage is too great a hassle to contend with. Equipment manufacturers designate specific lines of equipment for rental
department programs and these lines are typically in the middle range. Although divers would benefit from the ability to rent top
quality equipment, the diving mass market consists mainly of those who try the sport once but may be discouraged from doing so if
rental or course fees were higher. We believe that if people use the best gear at the most interesting dive sites that the experience
will be so enthralling that most will continue to dive often.
